Whistle Stop by Blackie's Blend is an anti-dry out paste made from the plants chucks love to eat. It is enhanced with several oils & herbs. Place a spoonful (or more) on a couple of leaves of fresh cabbage or chunks of broccoli for eye appeal. Being a very heavy paste, it is totally unlike any groundhog bait on the market. It will definitely work in the summer's heat.

Bait, lure, and urine can be used alone or in combinations to help you trap. Baits are used to attract animals to your sets and make them stay longer. Lures are used to attract animals to your sets from a distance. Urine evokes a curiosity or territorial response. Urine is especially helpful, along with bait and lure, in attracting Woodchucks. Place a teaspoonful on broccoli or cabbage beyond the trigger wired to the back of the cage

I applied paste on lettuce leaves, put a small piece near entrance to Havahart trap, and put some lettuce in trap. Ground hog smelled lettuce outside trap, ignored it and walked away. Did not go into trap.

Used this the last 4 seasons and never had a problem in hot weather. Stays moist and stays where you put it smeared on fruit or grass.
