Intimidator Visual Bird Deterrent

I have owned & operated Cape Fear Wildlife Control for over 25 years. This part of NC is so thick w/ woodpeckers that our AAA baseball team is the Fayetteville Woodpeckers. Before Keith Markun came out with I Intimidators, I used Mylar tape that didn’t last (and looked like crap) & commercial bird deterrents that were ineffective. I also tried deterrent sprays. I even tried the battery powered spider. Since those early days, I have learned a lot about flasher placement & covering all exposed wood with thick coats of paint or stain. I depend on Intimidators because they are effective (if properly placed). They don’t have batteries to change. They’re powered by the sun & wind. And they’re made of materials that last a long time. I get the Intimidators with the thicker aluminum bottom flasher. It still spins with very little wind, but it will out perform & outlast anything else I have seen.

We install dozens of intimidators on various types of both commercial and residential properties. In our area we see tens of thousands of dollars worth of damage every year due to Northern Flickers. We started installing these roughly four years ago and have never looked back. Before we found the intimidator we had tried many different types of visual deterrents with not a single one being effective. This product works! If you are in a high wind area, look into the woodpecker high wind intimidator.

I’ve used a number of bird deterrents and these are not only the most effective but the quality is much higher than many others on the market at this price point. I had some problems in an extremely high wind area and the support I received from the vendor was fantastic as well. Great product and great company!

This is a great product, I’ll be 50 or more each order. As long as you install properly they will deter the birds. I change them out annually for full efficiency and recurring revenue.

This has been a great, inexpensive, asset to our industry. It’s important to install them correctly, as they operate off direct sunlight. If you have sunlight and you can see the reflection of it in the area of concern, they will work. If you install them in the shade, with no sunlight present, they are not able to work. At a 30-40$ price point, I don’t see something else being as effective and as easy of a sell for woodpeckers.

Woodpeckers were making multiple holes in my cedar siding this fall. Placed devices up as recommended, however the birds continued to peck holes. one hole was right underneath a spinner. it seems there has to be some amount of wind for the product to work and maybe that was the reason the birds weren't repelled.

We've used this device several times with pretty good success. It definitely performs better if the bird hasn't built a true nesting hole yet. Also helps to get it hung on the eave or similar location so it flashes reflected light across the area you're trying to protect.

We have had a woodpecker making holes in our two cedar posts all summer long. I finally looked for a product that would keep the bird away. This product worked like a charm :)

Excellent product, woodpeckers have moved on.\nI do however have an observation, an all \nafternoon rain, followed by high winds, caused the tail of the intimidator to stick to the back of the main flasher. I am thinking the water created a vacuum between the two parts, it took a few days to dry off and drop back down. That being said, it was still very active. Great product, just needs some corrugation on the tail, To prevent that sticking problem.
