Gopher Getter Gopher Trap: this is the premium grade DK-2 Wood Box Gopher Trap from P-W Manufacturing. Find a fresh mound and dig open the tunnel entrance. Place trap flush to the tunnel opening. Pack loose dirt around the base of the trap. Be sure to leave the light hole open -- so the light and air will bring the pocket gopher back to plug the hole. When they push dirt against the triggering mechanism they wil be captured.

I find that the DK2 trap is effective if you have to open up a 4 by 4 and place the Trap deep into the hole where cinch trap is only 2 inch round and the Trap\ncan go into the tunnel a good four to 6in deep. With the DK2 I find a gophers are filling the Trap up with dirt and not tripping it. I cannot see opening up a hole four by four and 6 inch deep . The only good part about the DK2 is that it’s large enough that coyote, foxes, and raccoons can't get a grip on it to pull it out of the hole if you have a gopher in the Trap.\n

I primarily use Macabee gopher traps in the tunnels, but find the box-style traps to be useful and often easier to set, since you have to widen the tunnel to fit the Macabees in place. These box traps work especially well at the end of a tunnel.
